Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series - Press Release 41

ENTRIES OPEN FOR CASTROL EDGE JAMBOREE

The Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series, is proud to welcome Castrol EDGE as Naming Rights Sponsor again this year for the 2008 Jamboree.

August 23-24 sees the Castrol EDGE Jamboree play host to the Grand Final of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Series at Willowbank Raceway.

As many would know, Castrol EDGE is no stranger to the Jamboree and have been involved with the event for a number of years. Castrol's EDGE range of oils is specifically designed for the Import Sport Compact Market to provide the maximum protection and performance of these hi-tech turbocharged engines.

Castrol not only supports drag racing events like the Jamboree, Tin Tops and the Winter Nationals, it also supports many Sport Compact racers with names like Pac Performance, Advanced Performance Centre, Theo Woollett Racing, all benefiting from Castrol's ongoing support of our sport.

With this being the last Round of the Series and over $30,000 in Event and Championship Prize Money up for grabs, the gloves will be off, in a battle to secure valuable points with 9 of the 11 Class Championships yet to be decided.  Point’s won’t be the only thing on racers minds with the Castrol EDGE Jamboree being a National Record Setting event, the records are set for a beating.

There is basically a class to suit any 4-cylinder, rotary, 6-cylinder OHC or 1999 & newer Sports Bike right through to full-chassis purpose built drag cars. Ever wondered what your pride and joy can do down the 1/4 mile?  The Castrol EDGE Jamboree is the ideal place to find out and you can do it in a safe environment without the Police on your back.

You can either enter online or download an entry form by clicking the Castrol EDGE logo below. Entries have already started to roll in so get cracking. Give us a hand and DON'T leave it to the last minute.

ROUND 3 GOES OFF IN SYDNEY

Round 3 of the Toyo Tires Sport Compact Group Championship series travelled to Sydney for the Mackenzie’s Motor Trimming Compak Attak on May 18th. The event at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) kicked off with crisp and clear winter weather despite a rather gloomy forecast. A huge entry list saw a great range of local racers as well as plenty of interstate travellers ready to battle it out on the black top.

Morning qualifying for the street-tyred classes kept the action happening on the strip, a few highlights including McKern & Assoc. Pro Turbo racer Joe Signorelli taking the wheel of the freshly imported Haltech-prepped Nissan GTR R35. For a lot of fans this was the first chance to see the new “Godzilla” in real life, and definitely the first time for many to see it used in anger! Whilst the car remains basically stock except for the new development Haltech ECU, Joe managed to real off an insane 11.12 at 124mph pass!

Check HERE to read the full meeting report. The Photo Gallery is up with some of the action from on and off the track from Round 3. Click on an image below to go to the Photo Gallery.
