SPORT COMPACT GROUP DRAG RACING SERIES CLASSES
In 2006 the Sport Compact Group developed 12 classes in consultation with racers, race car builders and industry stakeholders that we feel better suits the Australian Sport Compact market and gives us the ability to make changes to suit the market place in consultation with racer without lengthy submission processes. The Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series Classes have been designed to give more flexibility and allow more vehicles the opportunity to race than ever before. It wasn’t an easy decision to step away from the ANDRA Sport Compact classes that we ran under last season but we feel this is an essential step to allow the continued growth of the Sport Compact scene in Australia and the success of our events. I would like to acknowledge that ANDRA will still play a major role at all SCG events with regard to insurance, sanctioning and safety. All vehicles racing at SCG events must still meet ANDRA Safety Rules & Regulations, which are of the highest standards.
Each class has different rules depending on a variety of things including:- Number of Cylinders, Engine size, Vehicle weight, Aspiration (turbo / non-turbo), Front wheel drive, All wheel drive or Rear wheel drive to name a few. Following you'll see the 12 classes with a brief description of the vehicles that fit into each class.
For more detailed information about each class you can download the Sport Compact Group Drag Racing Series Rule Book here
